This textbook expression of Châteauneuf-du-Pape is everything you want from the appellation: it’s rich, it’s balanced, and it’s insanely food-friendly on the table. Savory notes of red and black fruits, damn earth, and exotic spice lead to a round and supple finish. Fruit for this wine is hand-picked, whole-bunch fermented, and aged for 18 months in casks and terracotta jars. Sip with lamb, grilled red meats, or lentil-based stews. 2017 Vintage Scores: Roses, mint and raspberries give the full-bodied 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Habemus Papam a deceptively light, airy feel. Silky tannins reinforce that sensation, finishing with hints of black tea and a soft dusting of Asian five spice powder. It's a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah that should drink well for a decade or more." Wine Advocate: 94-96 Points Show more
