Silicon unijunction transistor (UJT) housed in a plastic TO-92 package, featuring a controlled negative-resistance characteristic engineered specifically for low-cost relaxation os cillators, timing circuits, and thyristor/SCR trigger pulses. Equivalents: 2N4870, NTE6401 (Note: Modern layouts typically require switching to a programmable UJT like the 2N6027 with external bias resistors). Real-Life Examples: Vintage industrial automated timer controls, electronic sirens, light flasher circuits, and early SCR-driven motor phase-controllers. Show more
