Rev Amplification, a high-end Canadian amp and effects brand, has released the Northern Mauler, with sound supervision by Glenn Fricker, who has worked as a sound engineer for numerous Canadian metal bands and has recently become popular in North America for his numerous pedal and amp reviews on his YouTube channel, "SpectreSoundStudios." The Northern Mauler combines the brutal Swedish chainsaw sound with the modern high-gain tone of a Rev amp, creating an all-in-one distortion tool suitable for use with clean channels, power amps, and recording interfaces. The amp circuit recreates the tone of a modern high-gain amp from Rev amplification, while the chainsaw circuit is inspired by the tones of famous distortion pedals from the '80s and early '90s. The two different circuits are parallel, and mixing these two tones creates new, radical distortion sounds never before heard before. The three controls on the right (Treble, Mids, Bass) are for the amp circuit, and the two controls on the left (Bite, Growl) are for the chainsaw circuit. The signals from each circuit can be mixed to your liking using the Blend control, allowing you to create a wide range of unique distortion sounds. The GIV'R control adjusts the gain/saturation of the mixed signal from the two circuits. It features a sturdy metal housing and eight control knobs, yet weighs only 361g. The input and output jacks are all located on the back, so no extra space is needed when using multiple effects in a row. It is powered by 9VDC and can only be powered by a power supply (sold separately).Power supply: 9VDC (sold separately) ■Current consumption (minimum): 20mA~ ■Size (maximum external dimensions): H52 × L113 × W113mm ■Weight: Approx. 361g
