The Octave Multiplexer, which debuted in 1976 as an octaver that produced rich, deep octave sounds, was only produced as a pedal for a few years, but a reissue later appeared. This particular unit is an early model with a 1975 date visible inside. It features the early specification where the circuit board is mounted on the back panel side. The casing shows rust, tarnish, signs of use, and engraved lettering on the top surface, giving it the feel of a vintage instrument. The op-amp IC is a quad-chip LM324N (replaced), some capacitors, the battery snap, and the BASS FILTER switch have all been replaced. A characteristic of this period is the control layout, which differs from later models: from left to right, it's [BASS FILTER (controls low harmonics) / HIGH FILTER (controls high harmonics) / BLEND (controls the blend of the original sound and octave sound) / BASS FILTER ON/OFF switch (rear, replaced)]. Its wide octave mix range and mellow tone were appealing, and it could be used with both guitar and bass, so it was probably very useful at the time. Replacement parts: Battery snap, BASS switch, high filter potentiometer, one op-amp IC, capacitor. Accessories: None.
