Item ConditionOur grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.Item DescriptionAboleth Spawn is the card that makes opponents hesitate before they cast anything. In Dungeons & Dragons, aboleths are ancient aberrations known for their psychic domination, and this little Fish Horror lives up to the name by quietly stealing the best part of every creature your opponents play. For three blue mana you get a 2/3 with flash and ward 2. Its Probing Telepathy ability watches the other side of the table: whenever a creature entering under an opponent's control triggers its own ability, you may copy that ability and choose new targets for the copy. Their card-draw creature draws you cards too, and their removal-on-a-body can be pointed right back at their own board. In a four-player Commander game, where everyone is casting value creatures, those copies add up fast, and flash lets you hold mana up and slip it in at the end of a turn with ward discouraging a cheap answer. This is the Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate printing, collector number 612, the extended-art version illustrated by Sam Burley, in non-foil. The wider art window gives the creature more room to loom, a nice touch for a blue deck that loves playing on everyone else's turn.
