Firoozeh Neman’s hand-built ceramic sculptures, created intuitively in her Ojai studio, transcend mere representation of the human form. Rooted in the exploration of the divine fem inine, her works channel subtle power and grace through raw, tactile expression. The presence of the artist’s hand lends each piece a primitive yet impressionistic quality, evoking immediacy and emotional depth. Neman’s evolving practice experiments with color and form, delving into the layers of feminine identity and energy. Each sculpture becomes a meditation on the physical and spiritual dimensions of being, inviting viewers to connect with both the primal and the transcendent. In Neman’s Words: “They all start with a clump of clay. It boggles my mind how each develops into a character unique to itself. Sometimes as I’m wrapping up a piece, doing the last touch ups, a name pops up into my mind. I‘d like to think that they are introducing themselves to me.” Show more
