APF CastorCrete SL: Professional Urethane Cement for Extreme Duty Floors APF CastorCrete SL is a gauge rake and trowel applied cementitious polyurethane slurry, installed at 1/8 to 1/4 inch thickness to protect concrete from extreme physical, thermal, and chemical abuse. It resists impact and abrasion, stands up to steel wheeled cart traffic, and is unaffected by hot cooking oils, animal fats, and common solvents. It is formulated to accommodate the difference in thermal expansion between concrete and coating, and it holds up to constant service temperatures up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. CastorCrete SL is a rapid turnaround, one step system, installed without a primer in typical applications and returned to service quickly. It is made from sustainable raw materials, contains low VOC, and is available with an optional antimicrobial additive to help inhibit fungal and microbial growth. Key Features Resists thermal cycling: withstands steam, hot water, and fluctuating temperatures Durable surface: handles steel wheeled carts, impact, and abrasion Green concrete friendly: can be applied to fresh concrete as early as 7 to 10 days old Low odor and sanitary: suited to hygienic environments and food handling areas Optional topcoats: compatible with multiple topcoat systems for added protection Recommended Uses Food and beverage manufacturing plants Meat, poultry, and fish processing areas Commercial kitchens and food prep areas Pharmaceutical production facilities Loading docks and material handling areas Sanitary and wash down environments Technical Specifications Specification APF CastorCrete SL Chemistry Cementitious polyurethane slurry Installed thickness 1/8 to 1/4 inch Complete kit weight 42 pounds (Parts A, B, C, and D) Compressive strength 8,500 psi Tensile strength 1,400 psi Flexural strength 2,700 psi Shore D hardness 75 to 80 Tabor abrasion (CS 17 wheel, 1000 g load, 1000 cycles) 32 mg loss Service temperature Up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit Application range 45 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit VOC 35 g/L Flammability when bonded to concrete Self extinguishing Concrete moisture tolerance May be applied to concrete indicating 100% relative humidity under ASTM F2170 Green concrete May be applied after approximately 7 to 10 days at 70 degrees Fahrenheit Dry to touch Approximately 12 hours Full service 24 to 36 hours Shelf life 1 year from date of manufacture, unopened Colors stocked by One Stop Epoxy Light Gray, Dark Gray Compatible Topcoats For added chemical, abrasion, or UV resistance, CastorCrete SL can be top coated once cured. From our current in stock lineup, APF Epoxy 600 and APF Epoxy Novolac 900 are both compatible epoxy options, with Novolac 900 reserved for the most aggressive chemical exposure. For a polyaspartic topcoat, Poly Gloss 85 gives a 22 minute working time, and Poly Gloss 85 Slow Go extends that to 90 minutes for larger areas. Frequently Asked Questions Does CastorCrete SL need a primer?▾ No. It installs as a one step system directly on properly prepared concrete, without a separate primer coat, which helps it return to service quickly. Can I use it on green or high moisture concrete?▾ Yes. It may be applied to concrete as early as 7 to 10 days old at 70 degrees Fahrenheit, and to substrates indicating 100% relative humidity under ASTM F2170, provided the concrete is otherwise clean and structurally sound. Can I install part of a kit and save the rest?▾ No. Each kit is proportioned as a complete 42 pound unit and must be used as a whole. Dividing a kit into partial batches will not cure or perform correctly. Do I need to grind the concrete first?▾ Yes. The concrete must be mechanically prepared to an ICRI CSP 3 profile. Acid etching is not recommended for this product and will void the manufacturer warranty. See the TDS and SDS tab above for the official technical documents, the Instructions tab for full mixing, surface preparation, and application steps, and the How much do I need? tab to calculate kit quantities for your project.
