Admirals In Collision by Hough, Richard Format: Hardcover with Dust JacketPublished by Viking Press, 1959 Nothing in fiction could surpass the drama and the strangeness of Admirals in Collision. On the afternoon of June 22, 1893 two British battleships collided head on. The accident took place in broad daylight, in peacetime, and on a perfectly calm sea.The battleship Victoria, rated the most modern and formidable in the British navy, capsized and sank in ten minutes--taking nearly 400 lives. The entire ships company of the Camperdown was tried by court martial. To this day the cause of the collision is not explained. Many believe, however, that Admiral Tyron deliberately ordered the dangerous turn to test the initiative of his second in command.Product image is for illustration purposes only and may not be an exact representation of the product offered for sale.
