George Michael was famously private and often reluctant to be photographed, which makes this remarkable collection of images spanning over 20 years a rare and compelling tribute to one of the music world’s most exceptional performers. Brian Aris first met George in 1984, when he photographed him alongside his Wham! bandmate Andrew Ridgeley. Over time, he earned George’s trust and went on to capture some of the most iconic and revealing portraits of the star, offering a nuanced glimpse into a complex and charismatic figure. Alongside Brian’s personal recollections and reflections on his time with George, the book brings together iconic imagery, original contact sheets, and previously unseen photographs, forming a deeply personal and evocative celebration of one of pop’s most beloved and talented artists.
