If you've ever wondered about the histories, doctrines, and beliefs of the alternative churches, this is the book for you. Reverend Kenneth L. Hix, Jr. carefully examines the Jehov ah's Witnesses, Christian Science, and the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints and compares their views on the subjects of God; the Trinity; the deity of Jesus Christ; the Holy Spirit; Satan, sin, and evil; the Resurrection; and eschatology with those of the mainline Christian Church. About the Author A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Reverend Kenneth L. Hix, Jr. has lived in North Carolina for over nineteen years. He was a ninth-grade dropout who earned a G.E.D. in the U.S. Army in 1948 and then attended Southeastern Seminary. He is now retired from Volunteer Chaplaincy at Wilkes Correctional Center but not from his ministry. And he is active in the American Legion, too. I studied non-mainline churches while in seminary, Rev. Hix says. I felt that people were not being told everything about these beliefs and it is not enough for people to put their faith on what little they were told. I am not out to tear down anybody or what they believe in, just to tell the facts as I found them to be. Show more
