This is a collection of everything you need to start and continue mending your clothing with sashiko style stitching. It is a perfect starting collection if you are just beginning your mending journey. If you are already a dedicated mender and particularly like the sashiko patterns on your mending projects, this is will be a book you come back to again and again. I would be inclined to say if you could have only one mending book, this one should be it. Apart from having easy to use clear instructions and patterns ranging from simple to advanced, the book has an envelope of re-usable iron on patterns in a fat little envelope in the back. This means no tedious transfer, you can just iron the design ono you fabric patch and start stitching. In this kit: The Mending Directory, 50 Modern Stitch Patterns for Visible Mending, book by Erin Eggenburg the book has an envelope of re-usable iron-on patterns inside the back cover one package of two Olympus sashiko needles one 20 meter skeins of Olympus sashiko thread, white one 30 meter card of Daruma sashiko thread, black 20 assorted cotton fabric patches, approx 4" to 6" square (including dyed yarn, Japanese wagara, printed, and solid fabrics) From the back of the book: "This collection of hand-stitchd and darned patterns is organised by skill level from beginner to expert, and each includes step by step instructions and a gorgeous photograph of the finished pattern. With designs ranging from geometric grids to those in a looser, nature inspired style, this is the perfect source of inspiration and instruction for every mending project." Show more
