The Volksgrenadier divisions were rapidly raised German infantry formations of late 1944, built around a cadre of veterans and equipped with a high proportion of automatic weapons and Panzerfaust anti-tank launchers to compensate for reduced training and manpower. Volksgrenadier divisions took part in the opening assault of the Ardennes Offensive in December 1944. This Dragon 1/35 figure set depicts German Volksgrenadier infantry in the cold, wooded terrain of the Ardennes, wearing the mix of greatcoats, toques and improvised winter clothing typical of the campaign, and armed with the Kar98k rifles, MP40s and Panzerfausts that characterised these hastily formed units. As with other kits in Dragon's WWII figure line, the set is engineered as crisp, cleanly moulded styrene components with individually sculpted poses, giving each figure a natural, active stance suited to diorama work. Ideal for building a winter 1944 vignette alongside Dragon's Ardennes armour releases, or for adding infantry interest to any Battle of the Bulge display.
