Family stories can be complicated, even when viewed from a distance of years and through a lens of acceptance mixed with forgiveness. Writing them down helps us understand the choi ces our parents and other family members had to make, based on their times and whether the world was at war or peace.Sharing these stories takes determination, perspective, and sometimes guts. Nothing comes, or goes, easy.Judy Benowitz, a descendant of parents Ivah Ree and Dan, has unraveled the family story, included her own children, and rewoven it into a fascinating history of how they all managed not only house and home, but also relationships, marriages, and ultimately love.Because that’s the not-so-secret essence of every family.
