Brittany Ferns’ latest paintings begin with mermaids—sometimes alone, often in pairs—gliding through moonlit waters or resting under tangled trees. These duos suggest kinship, myst ery, and quiet rebellion, suspended in dreamlike scenes that blur the lines between land and sea. Cowboys drift into the frame too, conjuring dry horizons and folklore of another kind. Together, these figures animate Ferns’ rich, layered landscapes, where deep greens and dusky tones evoke a wilderness that is both tender and untamed. Her worlds feel pulled from memory and myth, offering a space where stillness, longing, and wonder coexist. Show more
