You know that feeling when you see a painting of a mountain scene and immediately picture yourself skiing in it? Well this painting makes me want to grab my skis and go! Calgary artist Heather Pant has this really unique style - her trees and mountains are so dynamic and flowy, with these giant S-shaped lines that naturally travel down the ski. Many of her paintings are tall and vertical, which translates incredibly well to our long ski canvas. The way it flows from tip to tail is awesome! We fell in love with one of her mountain paintings, but it had already sold. Thankfully, she offered to recreate something similar and painted this original piece just for us! In addition, if you look closely you’ll see translucent sections of the painting enabling you to see through into the actual ski’s construction. Seeing the metal, wood and fiberglass adds really cool depth, making this graphic unlike anything else out there!! Looking at the tail of the ski you feel like you’re in the shadows of the trees and then as you move your eyes up toward the tip, it transitions into this epic colorful mountain peak. It immediately transports me to all the times I’ve stood in the woods gazing up looking at where I want to ski. On the base we took a small section of her painting from the top and blew it up really huge to create this cool abstract base graphic. She works primarily in acrylics, layering bold, vivid colors with this impressionistic technique that captures the power of the Canadian Rockies. Heather's been painting professionally for 25 years, living in Calgary where being so close to Alberta's mountains provides endless inspiration. She’s quoted saying, "I Live to Paint and I Paint what I Love" perfectly summing up her passion. This is a Limited Edition collaboration with only 400 pair made, and I’ve hand signed and numbered each one. As one of the coolest mountain paintings we’ve ever put on skis, they’re going to sell out fast. Grab yours before they’re gone! Follow @artistheatherpant
