The Grapefruit 'Rio Red' is a vigorous, high-yielding citrus tree known for its large, sweet-tart, deep red fruit with few seeds and juicy flesh. Ideal for Melbourne’s climate, it thrives in full sun and well-drained, slightly acidic soil, with regular watering—especially during dry or fruiting periods. Fruit ripens from late autumn through winter, offering vibrant colour and flavour at the cooler time of year. Young trees spend their first few years developing root system. 3-5 years is when you should expect fruit. A mature tree can reach 4–6 metres high and 3–4 metres wide. Show more
