Lead Wire When you need reliable weight that wraps smoothly and stays put, UTC's round lead wire remains the gold standard for weighted fly patterns. Soft and pliable, this wire conforms easily to the hook shank without creating bulk or uneven profiles—giving you precise control over sink rates and balance. Available in multiple sizes to match your pattern requirements, lead wire works beautifully for everything from delicate nymphs to heavily weighted streamers. The round profile wraps cleanly and creates a smooth foundation for dubbing or body materials, while the soft composition means it won't damage your thread or hook finish. Common Applications: Weighted nymph and wet fly patterns Streamer underbodies for proper sink rates Jig-style flies and euro nymphs Any pattern requiring precise weight placement A proven material that's been weighting flies for generations. Once you dial in the right size for your patterns, you'll appreciate the control and consistency it delivers on the vise.
