LightBot and SpriteBox Coding are puzzle-style apps that sneak in core programming logic without asking kids to type a single line of code. Learners guide a character through mazes by sequencing commands, then gradually add loops, conditionals, and procedures as levels get harder. For homeschoolers, these games make a gentle first step into coding, especially for kids who love logic puzzles but aren’t ready for full-blown text programming. Created by a small team of educators and developers to make computational thinking feel playful, they’re inexpensive compared with coding camps and can be replayed many times. They don’t teach a specific programming language, so you’ll eventually want something more formal, but as an introduction to “how programmers think,” they’re hard to beat. Show more
