Incentive Create an animated patterned rainforest based on life-like images. -Line-Shape-Space-Colour-Texture Supplies Art paper Markers / Crayons Pencil Bright coloured backing paper / card Digital art program (alternative) Lesson 1 Display and observe images of rainforests. Discuss the overlapping of different trees and bushes. Look at the different basic shapes. Discuss other features found in a rainforest e.g. a water stream, waterfall, rocks, anthills etc. 2 Use pencil to draw basic shapes and outlines of trees, bushes, plants, rocks etc. 3 Use markers or crayons to completely cover each rainforest feature in a different colour with different patterns. Crayons may be easier for younger children, whereas markers provide more definition and may be suited to older children. The above picture has been completed with markers. 4 Leave background white to enhance colours in the artwork. 5 Outline every shape and line in black. This will further enhance the bright colours and provide more definition to the patterns. 6 If using a digital program to draw and paint, colour background all one colour and then draw plants in a contrasting colour. Add patterns and colour. 7 Display on a brightly coloured backing. Perhaps border display with some life-like pictures of rainforests or facts about rainforests.
