This image captures the essence of brutalist architecture with its bold, angular lines and stark concrete forms. The photograph emphasizes the dramatic interplay between the man-ma de structures and the natural sky, creating a striking visual contrast. The perspective highlights the grandeur and imposing nature of the buildings, showcasing the unique aesthetic of brutalism. Etoiles de Renaudie, located in Ivry-sur-Seine, is a prime example of brutalist architecture designed by architects Renée Gailhoustet and Jean Renaudie. This style, known for its ruggedness and lack of ornamentation, often features exposed concrete and blockish forms. The design for Etoiles is emblematic of this style, showcasing a complex of residential buildings that challenge conventional aesthetics with their bold, geometric shapes and raw concrete surfaces. The Etoiles complex is celebrated for its innovative approach to urban living, integrating communal spaces and residential areas in a uniquely interconnected design. An interesting anecdote about Etoiles is that its design was influenced by the need to maximize natural light in residential units despite the dense structure. Etoiles de Renaudie. Ivry-sur-Seine.
