Z-Man HellraiZer The Z-Man HellraiZer is a completely different take on topwater fishing, combining a slender baitfish profile with a weighted tail blade that creates aggressive surface action, vibration, flash and commotion with a simple straight retrieve. Designed by Ron Davis, inventor of the Original ChatterBait, the HellraiZer essentially creates its own fleeing, side-to-side surface action without requiring the angler to constantly work the rod like a traditional walking bait. Cast it out, start reeling and the HellraiZer rises to the surface and goes to work. Self-Walking Topwater Action The biggest difference with the HellraiZer is how easy it is to create its signature action. Unlike traditional walking topwaters that require precise rod-tip movements and cadence, the HellraiZer is designed to slash and walk across the surface during a straight retrieve. That allows anglers to concentrate on retrieve speed, casting and covering water rather than constantly manipulating the lure. Weighted Tail Blade The HellraiZer's distinctive weighted tail blade is the driving force behind the lure's action. As the lure moves across the surface, the blade produces vibration, flash and water disturbance while helping propel the body through its frantic side-to-side movement. The result is a presentation that resembles a baitfish or other prey desperately trying to escape across the surface. Fish It Slow or Burn It One of the HellraiZer's biggest advantages is its wide effective retrieve range. Slow it down and the lure still produces surface disturbance and vibration. Speed it up and the HellraiZer becomes an aggressive, fast-moving fleeing bait that can quickly cover large areas of water. That versatility allows anglers to adjust the retrieve until they find the speed that triggers fish. Low-Riding Strike Position The HellraiZer fishes with its head elevated while the rear portion rides lower in the water. This helps put the trailing hook in a natural strike position and can make it more difficult for a fish to completely knock the lure out of the water during an aggressive surface attack. Feathered Treble Hook A feathered rear treble hook provides an additional visual strike target behind the tail blade. The blade creates the commotion and attracts attention, while the feathered hook gives pursuing fish a defined target to attack. Two Sizes The HellraiZer is available in two sizes: 4" – 3/8 oz 5" – 5/8 oz The 4-inch HellraiZer provides a smaller forage profile that's excellent when fish are feeding on smaller bait. The 5-inch HellraiZer offers a larger presence and additional weight when you want to cover water and draw attention from bigger predators. The HellraiZer gives fish a surface presentation that's noticeably different from conventional walking baits, poppers and prop baits. Its tail blade generates vibration and flash while driving an erratic fleeing action across the surface, yet the angler doesn't need to master a complicated retrieve to make it work. Simply get the bait to the surface and reel. That combination of an unusual action and easy presentation makes the HellraiZer particularly useful when fish have seen plenty of traditional topwater lures. Premier Tackle Take The Z-Man HellraiZer is one of those lures that makes more sense the moment you see it moving across the water. For Florida bass fishing, we'd throw it over submerged grass, along weed edges, around docks and across open water when fish are actively feeding near the surface. We also like that this isn't strictly a freshwater bait. Z-Man's Bryan Thrift has specifically reported catching big redfish on the HellraiZer, giving it legitimate crossover potential for Florida inshore anglers as well. The real advantage is that you don't have to work it like a traditional walking bait. Cast it, get it moving and adjust your retrieve speed. The tail blade does the work of creating the flash, vibration and frantic surface action. When fish are looking up and you want to show them something different, the HellraiZer earns its place in the box. Premier Tackle — We Carry What Works.
