A ballerina in a black tutu photographed from directly overhead on a flat pale ground, lit so evenly that she casts almost no shadow at all. Without one, the figure loses its ancho r — she appears to float on the surface rather than stand on it.The absence is the point. Other frames in this series use the shadow as a second subject; here it has been taken away, leaving a single dark form and nothing to tell you where the light is coming from.Fine art giclée print on premium archival paper.
